Stella Garant
FALL RIVER -- Stella (Dobek) Garant, 87, of Slade Street died Sunday, March 7, 1999, at Catholic Memorial Home.
She was the widow of Joseph O. "Ted" Garant.
A lifelong resident of Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Frances (Los) Dobek.
A graduate of Thibodeau Business School and the Herrick Institute, Mrs. Garant was active in local, state and national
democratic political organizations. She was a ward captain for President John F. Kennedy in all his campaigns and was
a founder, with Rose Kennedy and Kay Furcolo, of the Democratic Women on Wheels.
She was an active member of St. Patrick's Church for 73 years and a member of its Women's Guild
Survivors include a son, Richard P. Garant of Wareham; a daughter, Carol A. Garant of Fall River; two sisters, Anna N.
Dobek of Fall River and Pauline F. Landoch of Providence; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and
several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 S. Main St., with a Mass at 11 at St.
Patrick's Church, South Main Street. Burial will be at the North Burial Ground.
