Winthrop Community Health Center
Located at the site of the former Winthrop Hospital, has been operated by East Boston Neighborhood Health
Center since June of 1994. It is a joint venture of the Boston University Medical Center and East Boston
Neighborhood Health Center. Our goal is to provide the highest quality care to the residents of Winthrop and its
surrounding communities, in a professional manner that is sensitive to the needs of each individual patient. We
are also committed to promoting the health of the entire community and we stress the importance of prevention
and health education at every visit.

Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Wednesday 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Urgent Care
The Urgent Care services provide patients access to a physician 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition , the
urgent care service provides coverage in consultation with the pediatrician, adult medicine internist, and
obstetrician on-call at hours when the primary care services are not open. Also, a Pediatric physician is available
in the Urgent Care Center every Sunday from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm.

Adult specialty services include: Cardiology, Dermatology, Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose, Throat),
Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Hematology, Medical Oncology, Neurology, Oncologic Surgery,

Directions to the Center
From Boston or Route 93:
Follow Route 93 North or South to the Callahan Tunnel. As you exit the Callahan Tunnel, keep left as you go up
onto the ramp. At the first set of lights, take a right onto Rte 145. Follow the road thought a set of blinking
lights. Continue straight through a second light (road is now Bennington Street). Continue straight over small
bridge. Follow Bennington Street (Rte 145) into Winthrop. Go over a second bridge and bear right onto Pleasant
Street at the set of lights. The Winthrop Community Health Center will be on the left hand side.

Accessibility to Public Transportation:
Take the Blue Line to Orient Heights Station. From Orient Heights there are three buses that can be taken to
Winthrop: the Winthrop Beach Bus, the Highland Bus, and the Point Shirley Winthrop Beach Center Bus. Get off
of any of these buses at the corner of Pleasant Street and Main Street, and walk three blocks down Pleasant
Street. Winthrop Community Health Center will be on the left side. There are three buses that will go down
Pleasant Street and stop in front of Winthrop Community Health Center. These buses leave the Orient Heights
Station at 6:45 am, 2:56 pm, and 3:57 pm.
